SUPER pleased to have been invited to participate in the worldwide plastic-awareness event called Plastic Hunt this Shark Week to raise awareness about sharks conservation! Huge thanks to Anastasiya Disyak Quail who is our HKSF Shark Hero volunteer for organising the event!
Despite the challenges of a 2-person limit on group gatherings – we made it! (though we had to take a couple of rounds
). As usual, we found a prevailing theme in beach trash – single-use plastic containers, cups, and bottles. This plastic is harmful to the ecosystem and affects all organisms in the food chain from tiny species like plankton through to whales. Toxins work their way up the food chain when plastic is ingested and are present in the fish people eat. However, the good news is that it is easy to reduce plastic production and everyone on the planet can do it! Thank you Plastic Hunt’s Thom Tom for the kind invitation and to Anastasiya and all our volunteers for such a fun event to help us raise awareness about shark conservation in Hong Kong
