17 March saw the successful preview and softlaunch of HKSF’s first customised Facebook application – NoseOff! Over 60 friends and supporters of HKSF came down to Coast bar in HK’s Soho and cut their noses off to save sharks.
HKSF Hero Coast provided happy hour drinks all night and plastered the walls with NoseOff posters. PicturesByTheWayside ran their informative video loop on shark-finning, with imagery provided by Man&Shark.
“Nose-off” allows users to chop their nose off a photo of themselves. They then post the de-nosed photo to their profile and share it with their friends. It’s a fun way to raise awareness of a serious issue, and to drive traffic to our website which contains tons of information on the shark-finning issue and on what we’re doing to tackle it.
The success of any social media effort depends purely upon individuals taking part and sharing it on to create a ripple effect. So, in order to give our new initiative the best possible chance of success, we need as many of you as possible to take part and SHARE SHARE SHARE! And, remember, say NO to shark fin!
