Now, more than ever before, Hong Kong has a unique role to play in looking after the earth’s resources. As many as 73 million sharks are harvested each year for their fins, and more than half of these fins are traded in or through our city. As overfishing of sharks continues to damage the ecology of the oceans, it is Hong Kong that has the greatest opportunity to make a difference on a global level. This is our time.
